IF you think you have discovered a bug (and in this case you might have) file a bug report. I remain open to any and all suggestions! Thank you in advance for for your kind understanding. So I can only have two mac filters, the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz? Not ready yet to sacrifice one of my wireless radios for the waiting room, but I might do it for proof-of-concept purposes. I looked into using a virtual AP for the "waiting room" idea, but in my testing it seems that the VAP's share the mac filter list with all other AP's on the same radio. Then I could paste their mac address in the mac filter, and have the client connect to the real ssid that is internet enabled / mac filtered. What if the clients could connect to an ssid that is not mac filtered, but has no network access, just so that I could see their mac address in the web gui for the purpose of copy/paste? I can call it the "waiting room" wifi. I am still trying to come up with some fantastic idea to make it more convenient to add new clients to the list. Still I favor more security so long as it does not affect convenience.

But it is still inconvenient.īy the way, I know mac filter can be bypassed by a malicious person with a lot of free time. Copy/paste the client mac address from the lan clients listīelieve it or not, option 2 is my preferred option because of copy/paste. Input the address in the mac filter in web gui

Access the client device to note the mac address

Without this feature it is inconvenient to add clients to the list. It would make adding/removing clients easier because you don't have to type in the mac address. This would be a handy feature if it worked. But when you click the "Save" button nothing happens and the clients don't get added/removed in the "MAC Address Filter List". There is a little check box next to each client that you can select. The "Wireless Client MAC List" doesn't save. I want to use the mac address filter in DD-WRT for more wireless security. In this case the device is being used in the home of an urban environment. I'm reaching out to get help with the mac filter.įirmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r44251 std (08/27/20) Posted: Mon 10:22 Post subject: Using mac filter - Netgear R6300v2Īpologies if this is the wrong place.
